I'm deeply humbled and honored to announce that I will be teaching at the Solstice in Times Square event in New York on June 21 - the very first annual International Day of Yoga - and would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. HR Nagendra, Chairman of the IDY Experts committee at the Indian Ministry of AYUSH, for suggesting my name on this prestigious day.
The Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, a Division of the Ministry of AYUSH (Indian Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) has released a Common Yoga Protocol document for IDY, a 35 minute sequence of prayer, asanas and breathing techniques. The 36 page PDF linked below, complete with instructions, benefits and tips for the prayer, sadilaja (warm up) and the asanas, also includes a brief history of yoga, general guidelines for yoga practice and a message from Prime Minister Modi.
The protocol, recommended to planners all over the world for June 21, is accompanied by the video linked below, which will provide a visual accompaniment to the prayer, breathing and asanas. It is my hope that you will incorporate this protocol at your home or in your yoga school on this first annual International Day of Yoga, June 21 2015.
